Job description

SEN Specialist Teacher – Primary & Secondary | Manchester | Full-Time | ECTs Welcome

Are you a passionate teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) starting your journey or an experienced teacher looking to transition into SEN, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a supportive and well-resourced environment.

We are working with a welcoming SEN school in the Manchester area that supports both primary and secondary pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD, and complex learning difficulties. The school delivers a personalised and inclusive curriculum, focusing on academic progress alongside life skills, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

You will be joining a collaborative team of experienced SEN teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff, all committed to supporting every pupil to reach their full potential. The leadership team is highly supportive and prioritises staff development, offering clear progression pathways and ongoing training.

The school features excellent SEN facilities, including sensory rooms, breakout spaces, intervention areas, and well-equipped classrooms designed to support structured and engaging learning. Small class sizes and strong staff-to-pupil ratios allow for a more personalised approach and meaningful relationship-building.

The school is easily accessible via public transport across Greater Manchester and also offers on-site parking.

The Role
As an SEN Specialist Teacher, you will plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of your pupils. You may work in either a primary or secondary setting, depending on your experience and preference. You will support both academic and social development, working closely with teaching assistants and the wider SEN team to create a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Support pupils with a range of SEN, including autism and SEMH
  • Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support engagement
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements:

  • QTS or currently completing teacher training (ECTs welcome)
  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and resilient approach
  • SEN experience desirable but not essential

What the School Offers:

  • Supportive leadership and welcoming team
  • Strong induction and ongoing CPD
  • Career progression opportunities within SEN
  • Small class sizes and high support levels
  • Excellent facilities and resources
  • Focus on staff wellbeing
  • On-site parking and good transport links

Additional Information:

  • Full-time role with potential for permanent placement
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Start date: Immediate or September

This is a rewarding opportunity to positively impact young lives every day in a supportive and forward-thinking school.
