The Governing Body wishes to appoint a teacher of science with deputy head of faculty responsibility for a subject area within the science and technology faculty to work at Ysgol Nantgwyn and complement our existing team. We are keen to strengthen our faculty with teachers that can support pupils’ science learning through to GCSE level. You will be joining a successful and innovative faculty which is committed to incorporating the curriculum for Wales into all aspects of the teaching and learning.
Ysgol Nantgwyn opened as a 3-16 school in September 2018, and we have been collaboratively developing our curriculum provision so that it meets the needs of our pupils to respond well to the demands of an ever changing and complex world. Our Nantgwyn curriculum framework is informed by research and is iterative in its development.
Teachers work with pupils to define, design and develop learning pathways and experiences to strengthen skills. The impact of our work is evident in our pupils’ standards and outcomes, both at GCSE and throughout the school and can be seen strongly through pupil voice activities and engagement with their learning. We are regularly evaluating, learning and developing collaboratively and this is a strong feature of the faculty and our school.
The science and technology faculty structure will consist of a head of faculty and a deputy head of faculty who work with teachers to ensure that pupils across the school have access to the very best learning opportunities so that they make good progress across the full continuum. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the leadership of the faculty if this is a desired point of development.
Pupils study science in all year groups The faculty leads on design technology, engineering and information technology qualifications as well as science qualifications. We will work with the successful candidate to ensure that their teaching allocation is suitable for them - this could be having a focus in a particular aspect of science, with particular year groups/age ranges, utilising a STEM approach along with many other possibilities. Most importantly, we are looking to appoint an outstanding, motivational and highly professional individual who is passionate about pupils and their achievement.
