About the role

As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of health and safety across office environments and content creation activities, including filming within the office and on external locations.

A core focus of the role is to simplify and digitise operational health and safety processes, particularly by streamlining risk assessments (including DSE assessments) and developing an accessible online health and safety portal that enables staff to confidently plan, assess, and deliver work safely.

The role acts as a hands-on, trusted advisor to teams, ensuring legal compliance while supporting fast-paced, creative activity through practical, proportionate risk management.

As a Health & Safety Advisor you will;

  • Act as the organisation’s primary operational health and safety lead, providing clear, pragmatic advice to staff and managers.
  • Manage health and safety arrangements across all office locations, ensuring safe working environments for staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health, safety, and fire safety legislation, including Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Regulations, applying a risk-based and proportionate approach.
  • Oversee health and safety aspects of contractor and supplier management, including RAMS review and on-site monitoring.
  • Work closely with Facilities to ensure statutory inspections, fire safety arrangements, and building compliance are maintained.
  • Provide health and safety input into office changes, refurbishments, and workplace projects.

Filming & Content Production Safety (Office & External)

  • Lead health and safety planning for filming and content creation activities, both within live office environments and on external locations.
  • Create, review, and approve filming-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Attend pre-production meetings and location recces where required to identify hazards and agree practical control measures.
  • Support safe setup and strike of filming equipment in office environments, ensuring business continuity and emergency access are maintained.

Risk Assessment Streamlining & Digital Systems

  • Lead the redesign and simplification of risk assessment processes, ensuring they are clear, usable, and fit for purpose.
  • Develop and maintain standardised risk assessment templates for office activities and common filming scenarios.
  • Design, implement, and manage an online health and safety portal for staff
  • Act as system owner for health and safety platforms, ensuring data accuracy and continuous improvement.

Incident Management, Monitoring & Compliance

  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring lessons learned are captured and actions implemented.
  • Ensure RIDDOR reporting requirements are met where applicable.
  • Analyse trends in incidents, near misses, and sickness absence to inform preventative action.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide clear reporting to management.

Training, Engagement & Communication

  • Develop and coordinate health and safety training relevant to office working and filming activities.
  • Deliver practical briefings and guidance to staff, freelancers, and managers.
  • Support and coordinate Fire Marshals, First Aiders, and safety representatives.
  • Promote a positive, enabling health and safety culture that supports creativity and productivity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an operational health and safety role, ideally within a media, creative, or office-based environment
  • Strong experience producing clear, practical risk assessments, including for filming or non-routine activities
  • Ability to simplify processes and create user-friendly safety systems
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with creative and non-technical teams
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Fire Safety legislation
  • Understanding of office-based risks and filming/content production hazards
  • Working knowledge of contractor control and safe systems of work
  • Experience developing and embedding health and safety management systems
  • Ability to streamline or digitise risk assessment or compliance processes
  • Experience supporting filming, events, or non-routine activities
  • Incident investigation and audit/inspection activity experience
  • Willingness to attend filming locations and work flexibly when required
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) – Essential
