Discover your opportunity with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), one of the world’s leading financial groups. Across the globe, we’re 150,000 colleagues, striving to make a difference for every client, organization, and community we serve. We stand for our values, building long-term relationships, serving society, and fostering shared and sustainable growth for a better world.

With a vision to be the world’s most trusted financial group, it’s part of our culture to put people first, listen to new and diverse ideas and collaborate toward greater innovation, speed and agility. This means investing in talent, technologies, and tools that empower you to own your career.

Join MUFG, where being inspired is expected and making a meaningful impact is rewarded.

MUFG, one of the world’s most respected financial groups with a rich heritage spanning over 350 years, is seeking a Financial Crimes Compliance Quality Assurance Programme Head to join their Global Financial Crimes Division in London. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to shape and drive the global FCC QA methodology, ensuring consistency and excellence across multiple regions and disciplines including Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Sanctions. As part of MUFG’s senior leadership team, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding the organisation’s integrity, collaborating with stakeholders worldwide, and influencing the future of financial crime compliance. With a strong commitment to professional development, inclusivity, and flexible working opportunities, MUFG provides an environment where your expertise will be valued and your career can flourish.

  • Play a central role in developing, maintaining, and implementing global minimum standards for FCC QA across all regions, ensuring robust compliance and risk management frameworks are embedded throughout the organisation.

  • Collaborate closely with senior leaders and subject matter experts globally, providing technical advisory and oversight while promoting standardisation and best practices in quality assurance.

  • Benefit from being part of a renowned institution that values continuous learning, offers supportive leadership, encourages knowledge sharing, and fosters an inclusive culture where your contributions make a real impact.

What you'll do:

As Financial Crimes Compliance Quality Assurance Programme Head at MUFG in London, you will play a vital role in shaping the bank’s approach to financial crime compliance on a global scale. You will be responsible for leading one of the core GFCD QA programme departments—developing methodologies that set the benchmark for quality assurance across multiple disciplines such as ABC, AML, KYC, and Sanctions. Your day-to-day work will involve close collaboration with regional teams around the world as you oversee the implementation of global standards. You will prepare governance materials for senior management meetings; provide expert advice on complex compliance matters; deliver training; monitor progress against objectives; escalate risks when necessary; and contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen internal controls. Success in this role means not only ensuring regulatory requirements are met but also nurturing a culture of collaboration where knowledge is shared freely among colleagues. By supporting both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc in an entity-neutral manner—and always acting with integrity—you will help maintain legal entity integrity while advancing MUFG’s reputation as a trusted leader in financial services.

  • Oversee the delivery of the FCC QA programme remit within agreed timelines and to required standards, ensuring outputs are consistently high-quality, complete, accurate, and aligned with global expectations.

  • Develop, maintain, and secure approval for global minimum standards for FCC QA as well as relevant appendices to the Global FCC QA Methodology, driving harmonisation across all business units.

  • Communicate effectively with regional GFCD QA teams and global stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation and embedding of approved methodologies and standards.

  • Maintain comprehensive training materials and records related to FCC QA methodologies, delivering guidance sessions to ensure understanding and compliance across teams.

  • Prepare detailed summaries, reports, governance papers, and management information for key meetings while reviewing records for accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide timely updates on risks, issues, programme developments, and escalate material concerns to senior leadership as appropriate.

  • Execute oversight activities according to annual plans while responding flexibly to ad hoc requests from governance forums or leadership.

  • Contribute actively to regional working groups by offering constructive challenge and subject matter expertise to enhance overall programme effectiveness.

  • Support capability development by mentoring junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative team culture that upholds high standards of conduct and performance.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the QA operating model by strengthening internal controls and enhancing efficiency through shared best practices.

What you bring:

To excel as Financial Crimes Compliance Quality Assurance Programme Head at MUFG you will bring deep expertise gained from significant experience in financial services compliance roles—preferably within large-scale international organisations where you have driven meaningful change or enhanced critical programmes through rigorous evaluation. Your advanced understanding of quality assurance principles will enable you to develop robust methodologies that stand up to scrutiny from both internal stakeholders and external regulators. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills—able to communicate complex ideas clearly whether preparing governance materials or delivering training sessions—and demonstrate empathy when collaborating with colleagues across different cultures or time zones. Your proven ability to build positive relationships quickly will be essential as you interact regularly with senior leaders/subject matter experts globally. Adaptability is key: you thrive amid shifting priorities/deadlines without losing sight of long-term objectives. A passion for continuous learning ensures you stay abreast of industry trends/best practices while remaining committed to upholding MUFG’s values around integrity/inclusivity/client service excellence.

Significant experience in financial services compliance roles within large international organisations—ideally those focused on driving change or enhancing critical programmes through evaluation or transformation initiatives.

Proven track record leading teams or projects directly involved with FCC QA functions or controls oversight within banking or financial crime environments.

Advanced understanding of quality assurance concepts such as sampling strategies, stratification methods, testing approaches (including MI reporting), monitoring techniques, sources of assurance, governance structures (accountability/decision-making), and regulatory frameworks relevant to banking compliance.

Thorough knowledge of effective financial crimes risk management frameworks—including practical application of AML/KYC/Sanctions regulations—and ability to interpret evolving industry trends or best practices.

Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel/Word/365 applications for data analysis/reporting purposes alongside strong written/oral communication skills suitable for preparing governance materials or delivering training sessions.

Experience interacting with senior leaders or subject matter experts in financial crime programmes—providing technical advice/guidance on complex issues while building positive relationships quickly through client service orientation.

Ability to adapt rapidly to changing priorities/deadlines within collaborative environments—exhibiting resilience/flexibility/optimism even under pressure while striving for continuous improvement at every stage.

Preferred: Experience designing/evaluating/testing/auditing financial crime compliance controls; interfacing with banking regulators/enforcement staff; holding relevant certifications such as CQP MCQI/CIA/CMIIA/ICA Diploma in AML/CAMS; degree in finance/accounting/business or equivalent work experience.
