This is a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-qualified teacher of
Design Technology/Construction/Art/Product Design/Engineering to join our team here at Ysgol Gyfun Heolddu Comprehensive School.
This post is a new post due to the growing number of pupils at our school and the increase in offer of examination subjects across this faculty area.
The successful candidate will be passionate about their subject and possess the skills to inspire and motivate students with a broad range of abilities across Key Stage 3 and 4. They will teach the range of subjects in the faculty at Key Stage 3, along with a small number of Science lessons, and will offer their specialist DT/Art subject at KS4 and even KS5 for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who will build and sustain a range of opportunities for our fantastic young people to develop their creative skills both in lessons and in extra-curricular activities.
In particular we seek candidates who are qualified and experienced in teaching in the following areas: Product Design, Engineering, Art or Constructing the Built Environment.

The Design faculty is a highly popular and high-performing subject area at Ysgol Gyfun Heolddu with a wide range of qualifications on offer at GCSE and A Level. The successful candidate will join a committed team of teachers who work effectively together to secure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.
Esty n 2018 found that Heolddu “is a caring learning community that promotes inclusivity and wellbeing successfully” and that our pupils are “courteous and respectful towards staff, visitors and fellow pupils. They behave well, arrive promptly to lessons and demonstrate positive attitudes to learning. Pupils are proud to belong to the Heolddu school community”.
The school was inspected in March 2026 and the report is due to be published on 15 May 2026.
