Job description
Location: Birmingham Role: School Caretaker Contract Type: Full-Time Start Date: ASAP School Type: Mixed Secondary School (Ofsted-rated Requires Improvement) A Hands-On Role Supporting Daily School Operations A secondary school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a reliable School Caretaker to take responsibility for the upkeep and security of the school site. This is a practical role suited to someone who is comfortable carrying out routine maintenance tasks and supporting the smooth running of the premises. The caretaker plays an essential role in ensuring the environment remains safe, functional, and ready for daily use by students and staff. Core Duties You will be responsible for maintaining the school buildings and grounds while responding to day-to-day site needs. Typical responsibilities include: Opening and securing school buildings at designated times Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance tasks Monitoring heating, lighting, and alarm systems Setting up rooms for assemblies, meetings, and school activities Supporting deliveries and moving furniture or equipment Maintaining external areas such as playgrounds and entrances Completing routine health and safety checks This role requires a consistent approach to daily tasks and attention to detail when identifying potential issues.
