Job description
A high-achieving and well-regarded secondary school in Bristol is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science ECT to join its successful Science department this September. The Role Teaching General Science across KS3 and KS4 (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), with opportunities for KS5 specialism. Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured practical and theory-based lessons. Supporting pupils with required practicals, investigative assessments, and examination preparation. Promoting high standards of laboratory safety and technical precision in accordance with school policy. Encouraging scientific enquiry and independence through hands-on laboratory sessions. Monitoring pupil progress and using assessment data effectively to drive academic attainment. Participating in the school’s extensive STEM enrichment programme and annual Science Week events. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). A strong degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related Science subject. Robust subject knowledge and the confidence to deliver practical demonstrations safely. High expectations for pupil engagement, behaviour, and academic progress. A collaborative mindset and a willingness to engage fully with the school's mentor programme. A proactive, organised, and positive approach to starting a career in education.
