Junior Buyer

Learn the ropes of buying in a fast‑paced environment As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in maintaining optimal stock levels - balancing availability, cost efficiency, and customer demand. You will manage day‑to‑day purchasing activity, develop strong supplier relationships, and build the commercial skills required to progress into a Buyer position. Your responsibilities: Raise and manage purchase orders using internal/MRP systems, tracking them through to delivery Monitor stock levels and place orders to ensure product availability while maintaining efficient inventory levels Work closely with suppliers to confirm lead times, pricing, and order status Build and develop supplier relationships, supporting negotiations on pricing and terms Support the sourcing of new suppliers, products, and components as required Investigate and resolve issues with orders, deliveries, invoices, and supplier discrepancies Coordinate deliveries and shipments with suppliers, freight forwarders, and couriers Ensure products and supplier processes meet relevant compliance and quality standards Maintain accurate system data, including setting up new products (SKUs), updating costs, lead times, and product information Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure purchasing supports operational needs Provide clear updates on order progress, delivery dates, and any risks or delays Handle enquiries via phone and email in a timely and professional manner Support the wider Buying team with day-to-day activities and administrative tasks To succeed in this role, you’ll need a positive attitude and the following: Previous experience within a purchasing/buying department or similar environment Experience in product sourcing, supplier negotiation or inventory management is beneficial Strong analytical and numerical skills Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software About Certikin Certikin is a leading supplier of pool and spa products in the UK.
