Job description
Science Technician – Exceptional Secondary School – Newcastle upon Tyne Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale We are seeking a proactive and organised Science Technician to join an exceptional secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the delivery of engaging and high-quality Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing practical resources, maintaining laboratory equipment and supporting teachers during experiments. You will ensure that all practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a genuine interest in science education. School Information: This is an 11 to 18 well-established, Outstanding Ofsted Rated School in Newcastle upon Tyne with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and continuous improvement. The school serves a diverse community and is known for its inclusive ethos, where positive relationships and high expectations underpin daily practice. The Science department is a key strength of the school, with excellent facilities and strong outcomes across all key stages. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and set up equipment for practical lessons • Maintain laboratory resources and stock levels • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed • Support teachers during practical experiments • Clean and store equipment appropriately • Assist with ordering materials and supplies Requirements: • Science-related qualification or experience • Strong organisational skills • Knowledge of laboratory health and safety • Good communication skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • School experience (desirable) Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible
