Job description
Attendance Officer – high-achieving ‘Good’ secondary school – Manchester Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale (support staff band) School information: This is a large, inclusive secondary school in Manchester, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted . The school serves a diverse and vibrant community and is committed to ensuring all students achieve their full potential through high expectations and strong pastoral support. The school has a well-structured leadership team and places a significant focus on student attendance and engagement, recognising its direct impact on achievement. Staff work collaboratively across departments, and the school has developed robust systems to monitor and support student wellbeing. Behaviour is well-managed, and students benefit from a consistent and supportive environment. The Role: The Attendance Officer will play a crucial role in improving student attendance and punctuality across the school. You will work closely with pastoral teams, parents, and external agencies to monitor attendance data and implement targeted interventions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with families and students. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor daily attendance and follow up on absences • Analyse attendance data to identify trends and concerns • Work with pastoral teams to support students with low attendance • Communicate with parents/carers regarding attendance issues • Liaise with external agencies where necessary • Maintain accurate records in line with school policies Requirements: • Experience in a school or attendance-related role • Strong data analysis and organisational skills • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities • Knowledge of safeguarding and attendance procedures • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Application: To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
