Job description
School Business Manager – exceptional Outstanding secondary school – Birmingham Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) School information: This is a large, high-performing secondary school in Birmingham, rated Outstanding by Ofsted . The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, robust leadership, and an unwavering commitment to student success. Serving students aged 11–18, the school is well-resourced and benefits from modern facilities and highly effective operational systems. The leadership team is forward-thinking and places significant emphasis on efficiency, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. Staff work collaboratively across departments, and there is a clear culture of high expectations, accountability, and professional development. The school is financially stable and well-managed, with a strong administrative and operational structure that supports teaching and learning effectively. The Role: The School Business Manager (SBM) will play a pivotal strategic role within the senior leadership team, overseeing the financial, operational, and administrative functions of the school. This is a key leadership position requiring strong financial acumen and organisational expertise. Key Responsibilities: • Lead on financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation • Oversee HR, premises, and administrative functions • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and school policies • Support strategic planning and school improvement initiatives • Manage contracts, procurement, and supplier relationships • Provide regular financial reports to senior leadership and governors Requirements: • Significant experience in a finance or business management role (school experience desirable) • Strong leadership and organisational skills • Knowledge of financial regulations and budgeting processes • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Application: To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
