Job description
An artistically ambitious and high-achieving secondary school in Plymouth is seeking a dedicated and creative Drama ECT to join its successful Performing Arts department this September. This is a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to work in a school that views the arts as essential to a student's confidence and development. The school provides a robust induction framework, including access to a dedicated theatre space and mentoring from an experienced Head of Performing Arts. The Role Teaching Drama across KS3 and KS4, with the potential to support A-Level Drama and Theatre Studies. Planning and delivering lessons that balance performance skills with technical theatre and theory. Supporting pupils with their devised and scripted practical assessments and examination prep. Promoting high standards of confidence, vocal expression, and physical theatre techniques. Encouraging independent research into practitioners and various theatrical styles. Coordinating and contributing to school productions, festivals, and showcase events. Participating in the statutory ECT induction sessions and collaborative faculty planning. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). A degree in Drama, Theatre Studies, or a related performing arts discipline. A passion for theatrical performance and a commitment to extracurricular theatre. The ability to build positive relationships with students and inspire creative expression. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a rehearsal-focused environment. A reflective, proactive, and positive approach to starting a career in the arts.
