Lifting Engineer (UK)

We are seeking an experienced Lifting Engineer to join our engineering team in a staff position, supporting a range of complex projects across multiple sectors. This role will involve the planning and execution of heavy lift and engineered movement operations, both onshore and offshore.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, ideally degree qualified, with proven experience in heavy industry environments. You will be confident in developing lifting plans and procedures, using tools such as AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, and capable of delivering safe, efficient solutions for large-scale lift and shift activities.
You will be a practical problem solver with the ability to think creatively when faced with engineering challenges, and comfortable working as part of international, multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves close collaboration with project stakeholders and site personnel.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Develop detailed lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments for complex operations
- Design and review lifting arrangements, including rigging configurations and load calculations
- Coordinate and support heavy lift and engineered movement (lift & shift) activities on site
- Liaise with project teams, clients, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient execution of works
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with relevant standards, legislation, and best practice
- Provide technical support during planning, mobilisation, and execution phases of projects
- Review and approve lift studies, drawings, and engineering documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during project delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement of lifting procedures and safety performance
- Work collaboratively within international and multidisciplinary teams
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (preferred)
- Strong experience within heavy lifting operations across heavy industry sectors (onshore and/or offshore)
- Proven track record in large-scale lift & shift / engineered movement projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working within international project environments
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
