Job description
A well-respected Catholic secondary school in Manchester is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated French Teacher to join its Modern Foreign Languages department from September . This is an excellent opportunity to work within a values-led environment where language learning is encouraged as a way to broaden cultural awareness and communication skills. The school is known for its strong pastoral care, structured learning environment, and commitment to supporting both academic success and personal development. Languages are valued within the curriculum, and the department works collaboratively to ensure students develop confidence in speaking, reading, and writing in French. Why This Role Matters Modern Foreign Languages play a key role in helping students build confidence and develop an understanding of different cultures. As a French Teacher, you will help students develop communication skills that support both academic achievement and future opportunities. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible lessons that help students build vocabulary, grammar knowledge, and conversational confidence. The department encourages interactive learning methods, including dialogue practice, group activities, and exposure to authentic language resources. There is a strong focus on supporting students of all abilities, ensuring that learners feel confident progressing through the curriculum and preparing for examinations. Your Teaching Responsibilities You will teach French across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 , helping students develop a secure understanding of the language. Depending on experience, there may also be the opportunity to support Key Stage 5 teaching or enrichment activities. Planning lessons that meet curriculum expectations and support different learning styles will be an essential part of the role. You will assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies where necessary. Working collaboratively with colleagues to share resources and maintain consistent standards across the department will also be expected. Participation in school events such as parents’ evenings and curriculum meetings will form part of your responsibilities. About the School Environment This Catholic secondary school in Manchester provides a welcoming and respectful environment where students are encouraged to demonstrate positive behaviour and strong work habits. The school maintains a supportive atmosphere, guided by clear values that promote respect, responsibility, and personal growth. Staff benefit from strong leadership and clear communication across departments. Professional development opportunities are available, allowing teachers to enhance their subject knowledge and teaching practice. The school maintains well-organised systems that support both teaching and learning, ensuring staff have the resources they need to succeed. What We Are Looking For The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in French and a passion for language teaching. You should be confident delivering lessons that encourage active participation and help students develop communication skills. Strong organisational skills, patience, and the ability to motivate learners will be important qualities. The school welcomes applications from both experienced teachers and early career teachers who demonstrate commitment to high standards of teaching. A willingness to support the ethos of a Catholic school environment will also be beneficial. Ready to Apply? If you are interested in this French Teacher position in Manchester and are available to start in September , please submit your CV to be considered. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to work in a supportive school where language learning plays an important role in student development.
