Job description
A thriving and well-regarded secondary school in Manchester is seeking a strategic and dedicated Head of Mathematics to lead its successful faculty from September. This is a full-time, permanent role for a leader who believes that numeracy and logical reasoning are the cornerstones of a student's future success. The school is looking for an ambitious professional to maintain a high-profile curriculum while ensuring that Mathematics remains inclusive and engaging for all students. The Role The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership for the Mathematics department, shaping a broad and inclusive curriculum that celebrates problem-solving and mathematical fluency. You will lead on the delivery of KS3, KS4, and KS5 Mathematics, including Further Maths, while mentoring a team of specialist teachers and support staff. Your role will involve managing departmental budgets, overseeing the quality of internal assessments, and ensuring that the department remains at the cutting edge of modern mathematics pedagogy. You will also foster strong partnerships with local universities to provide enrichment opportunities for high-achieving scholars. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Mathematics or a related field. Experience in a leadership or coordination role within a Mathematics department. A passion for a wide variety of mathematical applications and a commitment to academic excellence. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex data sets and timetabling requirements. A proven ability to motivate both students and staff through positive, lead-by-example management.
