Job Description:

Rushcliffe Care Group is a leading provider of high-quality mental health care services. Our mission is to deliver exceptional care to our patients, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Mill Lodge.

About Us

At Rushcliffe Care Group, we are committed to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for both our patients and staff. We believe in open communication, respect, and compassion, with a strong focus on continuous improvement. We invest in our team to ensure the care we provide is safe, reliable, and trusted. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play an important part in helping us provide care that people can depend on.

About the Service

Mill Lodge Hospital is a specialist hospital in Kegworth, Leicestershire. The service provides care and rehabilitation for adults aged 18 and over with complex mental health needs, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.

The hospital has four wards, each designed to provide a safe and therapeutic environment. Facilities include lounges, dining areas, and clinic rooms on each ward. Mill Lodge is set in a peaceful rural location, offering a calm setting for recovery.

Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, and social work, with additional services such as speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, and GP access available according to individual needs. Care is person-centred, recovery-focused, and delivered in partnership with patients to help them progress towards independence and community living.

About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant at Mill Lodge, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care. Working under the direction of qualified nursing staff, you will:

  • Assist patients with daily living activities and personal care in line with care plans.
  • Support therapeutic activities and meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Monitor and report changes in patients’ presentation or wellbeing.
  • Promote dignity, independence, and respect in all aspects of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the wider care team.
  • Contribute to a safe environment, following health and safety, safeguarding, and infection prevention procedures.

Shifts are 07:30–20:00 for days and 19:30–08:00 for nights, typically three or four shifts per week across seven days, with the rota issued fairly and four weeks in advance.

About You

You do not need formal qualifications for this role, but you must be willing to complete the Care Certificate as part of your induction. More important is the kind of person you are. We are looking for someone who:

  • Treats patients with respect and compassion at all times.
  • Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team.
  • Shows real commitment by being reliable, adaptable, and motivated to provide the best care possible.
  • Can act with professionalism and integrity, setting a positive example for others.
  • Has the physical ability to assist with mobility, personal care, and to complete CPI Safety Intervention training (full training provided).
  • Wants to grow and develop through training, feedback, and new experiences.

Reasonable adjustments will always be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 to support applicants with disabilities or health conditions to carry out the role safely.

Equal Opportunities Statement

Rushcliffe Care Group is committed to being an equal opportunities employer. We value diversity and are dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect, in line with the Equality Act 2010. We encourage applications from all sections of the community, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Employment decisions are based on individual merit, qualifications, and the needs of the service. Some roles may have specific requirements, such as physical ability or effective communication in English, due to the nature of the care we provide. These requirements are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and are applied fairly and proportionately. To support our commitment to equal opportunities, we may collect diversity data as part of the application process. This information is used for monitoring purposes only, is anonymised where appropriate, and does not form part of the selection process. If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.

Join our team at Rushcliffe Care Group and help us continue to provide exceptional care and service to our patients.

You will be joining Rushcliffe Care, a company with over 35 years of experience in offering the highest levels of care to our most vulnerable in society. Our values of Reputable Care, Respect and Compassion, Robust Communication, and Real Commitment are at the heart of everything we do.
