The Role As the Head of Science, you will take full responsibility for the standards of teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You will be tasked with developing a cohesive and challenging curriculum that bridges the gap between foundational KS3 principles and advanced KS5 research. Beyond the classroom, you will provide high-quality coaching and professional development for a large team of specialists, including ECTs and experienced practitioners. You will monitor student progress across all year groups, implementing data-driven interventions to ensure that every pupil, regardless of their starting point, reaches their full potential. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background with a degree in a Science discipline. Proven experience in a middle leadership role, such as a Key Stage Coordinator or Second in Department. Consistently "Outstanding" classroom practice with a track record of excellent results at both GCSE and A-Level. The ability to lead with empathy and clarity while maintaining exceptionally high expectations. A deep understanding of current pedagogical research and a commitment to practical-led, enquiry-based learning.
