Job description
A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Bath is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Librarian & Learning Resources Manager to join its academic support team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a vibrant hub of learning where literacy, independent research, and a love of reading are actively promoted. The Library is a central part of school life, supporting the curriculum across all key stages and providing a focused environment for study and enrichment. The Role Managing the daily operations of the school library and learning resource centre Developing and maintaining a diverse, high-quality collection of physical and digital resources Supporting pupils and staff with research skills, digital literacy, and academic referencing Leading literacy initiatives, including reading groups, author visits, and Book Week events Managing the library budget and supervising student librarians or volunteers Creating an inclusive, welcoming, and purposeful environment for independent study Collaborating with department heads to ensure resources align with curriculum requirements The Ideal Candidate Will Have A degree or professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Management (CILIP recognised preferred) Previous experience working in a library or educational environment Strong ICT skills and experience with Library Management Systems (LMS) A genuine passion for promoting literacy and supporting young people’s learning Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage pupils of all abilities A proactive, organised, and creative approach to resource management School Information This school in Bath is known for its supportive leadership, historic setting, and strong emphasis on holistic education.
