Job description
A prestigious and well-regarded secondary school in Newcastle is seeking an intellectually curious and musically gifted Music ECT to join its flourishing Music department from September. This is an excellent opportunity to teach a subject central to the school's identity. The school is committed to providing a world-class ECT induction programme, offering bespoke mentoring and opportunities to lead large-scale ensembles. The Role Teaching Music across KS3 and KS4, including performance, composition, and appraising Planning and delivering lessons that balance academic musicology with practical skill Leading and coaching school ensembles, choirs, or orchestras Supporting pupils with GCSE/A-Level coursework and examination preparation Managing music technology suites and encouraging the use of software like Sibelius or Logic Contributing to the school’s vibrant concert calendar and extracurricular rehearsals Participating in the statutory ECT induction and professional development sessions The Ideal Candidate Will Have Currently working towards or recently completed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) A strong degree in Music or Music Education Exceptional instrumental or vocal skills and a commitment to extracurricular excellence The ability to inspire students through a broad range of musical genres and traditions Excellent communication skills and a high level of energy and enthusiasm A reflective approach to teaching and a desire to grow professionally School Information This secondary school in Newcastle is known for its high academic standards and its commitment to the arts.
