Job description
Librarian – inclusive and high-achieving secondary school – Nottingham Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School information: This is an 11–18 well-established, Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Nottingham , known for its strong academic performance and commitment to literacy across the curriculum. The school serves a diverse student population and has a strong focus on inclusion, personal development, and raising aspirations. Students are well-behaved, motivated, and supported to develop a love of learning in a calm and structured environment. The school library is a central hub of learning, playing a key role in supporting reading, research skills, and independent study. It is a well-used, welcoming space that encourages students to engage with literature and develop lifelong learning habits. Role overview: As Librarian, you will manage and develop the school library, ensuring it remains an engaging and accessible resource for all students. You will promote reading for pleasure, support curriculum learning, and contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives. Key responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day running of the school library Organise, catalogue, and maintain library resources Promote reading through events, displays, and initiatives Support students with research and independent study Work with teaching staff to support curriculum-based resources Manage library systems and monitor usage Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment What the school is looking for: Experience working in a library, school, or similar setting Strong organisational and administrative skills Passion for reading and literacy development Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to engage and support young people IT proficiency and experience with library systems (desirable) Why join this school: Strong focus on literacy and student development Supportive leadership and collaborative staff culture Well-resourced and valued library provision Opportunities to lead reading initiatives and events Positive and respectful student body Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
