Job description
A welcoming secondary school in Manchester is seeking a compassionate and resilient Pastoral Support Officer to join its student services team as soon as possible. This role is dedicated to supporting the social, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing of students, ensuring they are ready to learn and thrive. Key Responsibilities Providing targeted pastoral support to individual students and small groups Managing the school's "Internal Exclusion" or "Reflection Room" to maintain positive behaviour Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student welfare Monitoring student behaviour patterns and implementing effective intervention strategies Supporting the transition process for vulnerable students and those with high needs Contributing to the school’s safeguarding procedures as a Deputy DSL where required Working closely with Heads of Year to promote a culture of respect and high aspirations The Ideal Candidate Will Have Previous experience working with young people in a pastoral, youth work, or school setting Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with challenging students A calm and resilient approach to managing difficult behaviour and emotional situations Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders A non-judgmental, empathetic, and professional demeanour A commitment to inclusive education and student success School Information This school in Manchester is known for its community-focused ethos and supportive leadership.
