Job description
A vibrant and well-regarded secondary school in Sheffield is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated DT Teacher to join its successful Design & Technology department from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to teach in a supportive and innovation-focused environment where craftsmanship, engineering, and pupil creativity are highly valued. Design & Technology is a thriving subject within the school, with strong participation at KS3 and KS4 and a clear focus on developing technical skills, material knowledge, and an understanding of industrial processes. The department is well-resourced and benefits from a collaborative team ethos. The Role Teaching Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4, specialising in Resistant Materials/Product Design Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured practical and theory-based lessons Supporting pupils with coursework, NEA (Non-Exam Assessment), and examination preparation Promoting high standards of workshop safety, tool maintenance, and health & safety Encouraging creativity, precision, and independence in design-and-make sessions Monitoring pupil progress and using assessment effectively to raise attainment Contributing to wider school initiatives and extracurricular design challenges The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) A degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related subject Experience teaching DT at secondary level with a focus on Resistant Materials Strong subject knowledge and confident practical classroom delivery High expectations for pupil engagement, behaviour, and progress A professional, organised, and positive teaching approach School Information This secondary school in Sheffield is known for its supportive leadership, positive pupil relationships, and industry links.
