We have an opportunity for a Programme Manager to join the Discovery Houses programme. Working alongside the Business Change Manager, the Programme Manager will be responsible for delivering programme management best practice, line managing the Project Managers and Programme Coordinator, and contributing to the development of a strong legacy for the Discovery Houses programme.

This is a fixed term contract until October 2027 and we'll consider flexible working patterns.

The National Trust is a matrix organisation, so you’ll be able to draw on the skills and talents of other specialist delivery team staff who are specialists in every field of our work. You'll work directly with 28 properties which are distributed across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

What you'll be doing

Your primary role will be to ensure that the programme is managed robustly over the course of its fifth and final year. Working closely with the Programme Board, you will be involved in all aspects of a complex programme, ensuring that it runs efficiently and delivers its aims. This will include leading and overseeing end of project reviews, managing final programme evaluation and reporting, and drafting relevant Gate papers. You will also work with the Business Change Manager to embed change plans and create a strong legacy for the programme.

· A solid track record of successful project and/or programme delivery – delivering projects and/or programmes to scope, time, and quality, including the related financial management and risk management.

· Strong stakeholder management skills – ability to influence and positively engage with a wide range of people across multiple roles, job areas, and levels of seniority.

· Experience of managing a team – motivating and inspiring team members to deliver agreed objectives, performance management, and creating a positive team culture.

· Knowledge of change management approaches – ability to support the Business Change Manager in the delivery of change plans, including contributing to thinking on approaches and mechanisms for embedding change.

Who we're looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you're:

• able to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes
• a Professional with technical knowledge and skills in project management demonstrated by a recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification
• able to evidence ongoing CPD in your career to date
• you're a flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions with senior leaders
• a skilled communicator, with experience of managing complex and challenging situations with competing interests and a diverse range of people
• a leader for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture
• A good understanding of the Discovery Houses programme – including its aims and objectives, and its role in delivering People & Nature Thriving.
