The Role:

To ensure compliance across our client’s product ranges including cosmetics, consumer electronics, hardlines and toys. The role focuses on monitoring regulatory change, assessing impact, and advising both internal teams and the client on required actions to maintain compliance across multiple product categories and markets.

You will take a proactive role in regulatory horizon scanning, translating complex legislative updates into clear, actionable guidance, and supporting both internal product compliance processes and client decision-making.

The position also includes 2 days per week on-site support within the client’s H&S team, contributing to Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) activities and ensuring compliance with dangerous goods transport and data management requirements.

Main Duties:

Regulatory Monitoring, Interpretation and Horizon Scanning

  • Monitor UK, European and international regulatory developments impacting cosmetics and consumer products (e.g., UK Cosmetics Regulation, UKCA/CE marking, Toy Safety Directive, RoHS, REACH, EMC, LVD, GPSD).
  • Conduct ongoing horizon scanning to identify upcoming legislative changes, enforcement trends, and emerging risks.
  • Assess and interpret regulatory changes, identifying practical impacts on product compliance and business operations.
  • Translate regulatory updates into clear guidance and required actions for both internal teams and the client.
  • Lead regular client meetings to present regulatory changes, business impacts, and recommended actions.
  • Produce formal reports outlining legislative updates, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.

Compliance Advisory and Implementation Support

  • Support the client in understanding and addressing compliance risks, issues, and regulatory gaps.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on how regulatory changes impact product compliance approval processes, including technical file requirements.
  • Work closely with internal Product Compliance, Quality, and H&S teams to ensure alignment of processes with current and upcoming legislation.
  • Support resolution of compliance issues, including advising on corrective actions and risk mitigation.
  • Engage with external stakeholders (e.g., test labs, notified bodies, regulatory authorities) where required to support compliance activities.

Dangerous Goods Compliance and Client Systems Support

  • Provide on-site support (2 days per week) to the client’s H&S and EH&S teams in line with DGSA-related contractual requirements.
  • Review articles against dangerous goods transport regulations to support correct classification and compliance (training provided, including external DGSA certification).
  • Conduct Safety Data Sheet (SDS) reviews to verify hazard classification and transport requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve incorrect or incomplete safety and regulatory data.
  • Upload applicable product data into client systems (e.g., SAP) prior to arrival at the Distribution Centre.
  • Perform daily reviews of EH&S system reports, identifying new or updated articles and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
  • Create and maintain substance records within internal systems.
  • Maintain EH&S master data, ensuring accuracy and completeness of dangerous goods information.
  • Support documentation and internal reporting related to dangerous goods compliance.
  • Contribute to improving processes, data quality, and compliance controls within the client’s systems.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For:

  • Ideally degree educated in Regulatory Affairs, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or related field.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in regulatory compliance for consumer products, including at least two of the following: cosmetics, formulated products, electronics, toys.
  • Strong understanding of how regulatory frameworks translate into practical compliance requirements.
  • Experience with regulatory databases and submission platforms (e.g., SCPN, CPNP, RAPEX, etc.).
  • Familiarity with global compliance frameworks (e.g., CE marking, REACH, Prop 65, CLP, ISO 22716).
  • Experience or exposure to dangerous goods, SDS review, or EH&S systems is desirable (training will be provided).
