Job description

Site Manager – Nature Based Solutions

Location: Site-based – Midlands & South/East England
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: May/June 2026

The Opportunity

Binnies is recruiting a Site Manager to join our Solutions By Nature (SBN) team — and this is not your typical construction role.

SBN exists to work with nature, not against it. We design and deliver environmental infrastructure that creates long-term resilience in the natural world, including:

  • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • River restoration schemes
  • Fish passes
  • Green infrastructure
  • Integrated Constructed Wetlands (ICWs)

Our projects are delivered in some of the UK’s most ecologically sensitive and visually striking environments — from riverbanks and floodplains to wetlands and agricultural land.

This role is ideal for someone who is not only technically strong, but who understands and respects the environments they are working within.

Why Join SBN?

SBN is a high-growth, high-impact team delivering projects across the Midlands and Southern England for some of the UK’s most forward-thinking water sector clients.

You’ll be joining at an early and exciting stage, with the opportunity to:

  • Shape how projects are delivered
  • Develop specialist expertise in nature-based solutions
  • Work on projects that create genuine environmental value
  • Grow with a team that is building real momentum

The Role

As Site Manager, you will take ownership of site coordination and delivery across nature-based construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site operations across environmental construction projects
  • Manage delivery across programme, cost, quality and scope
  • Oversee and coordinate site teams and subcontractors
  • Ensure Health, Safety & Wellbeing is embedded in all activities
  • Manage stakeholders including landowners, farmers and clients
  • Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), including:
    • Buildability reviews
    • Construction methodologies
    • Value engineering opportunities
  • Monitor and manage risks, changes and project performance
  • Drive innovation and efficiencies in delivery
  • Support tender development and client engagement
  • Collaborate with technical specialists to deliver integrated solutions
  • Support wider Binnies construction activities where required

What We’re Looking For

This role requires an experienced Site Manager who is comfortable operating in non-traditional construction environments.

Essential Requirements

  • CSCS Black Card (NVQ Level 6) or working towards
  • SMSTS (5-day course)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Full UK Driving Licence (site travel required)
  • Proven experience managing site teams in civils or construction
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and safe systems of work
  • Experience delivering projects to programme, budget and quality standards
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under time pressure
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness across project delivery and tendering
  • Competent IT skills (Excel, Word)

Key Attributes

  • Passion for environmental and sustainable construction
  • Comfortable working in remote, rural and water-based environments
  • Strong leadership capability with experience developing teams
  • Collaborative and solutions-focused mindset
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Positive, proactive and adaptable approach

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience delivering environmental or nature-based projects
  • HNC/HND in Construction, Civil Engineering or Project Management
  • NEBOSH or IOSH (Managing Safely or equivalent)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM, CIWEM)
  • Experience working with landowners, farms or rural stakeholders

Development & Training

Binnies is committed to your development and will support training where relevant, including:

  • Approved Person (AP) – Electrical Safety Rules (ESR)
  • Approved Person Isolation (API) – Isolation Safety Rules (ISR)
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a delivery role.

You will be working on projects that restore ecosystems, improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and create sustainable infrastructure that benefits communities and the environment.

If you want your work to mean something beyond programme and budget — this is that opportunity.
