  • Responsibilities: You will work on projects that involve the detailed analysis and presentation of data from clinical trials, which are instrumental to the successful uptake of novel therapies
  • Salary: £39,000 per annum
  • Benefits: Discretionary profit share bonuses paid twice per year, hybrid and flexible working options, generous holiday allowance, private medical insurance, critical illness cover, income protection, full funding for external training and more
  • Role Type: Full-time, permanent
  • Start Date: We are currently recruiting for start dates throughout 2026, and you will be asked to state your availability on your application form
  • Application Deadlines: Whilst there are no set application deadlines, we strongly recommend applying as early as possible. The role, or particular start dates, may close when suitable candidates are found
  • Location: This role is available in our Global Headquarters in Cambridge, as well as our Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh offices

About the Role

Analysts work on projects involving the detailed analysis of data from clinical trials and the assimilation and creative presentation of this analysis in different formats. These deliverables include posters, slide sets and peer-reviewed publications, and they are used directly by our clients in communication with a range of external stakeholders, making them instrumental to the successful uptake of novel therapies. The work is structured on a project-by-project basis and you will usually be working on several projects in different disease areas at any one time.

You will work in project teams alongside experienced colleagues, who provide one-to-one training in the technical aspects of the role, including project management and effective client communication. Delivering project work requires close collaboration with clients, and following a successful induction period you will increasingly participate in teleconferences and face-to-face meetings with external stakeholders.

Costello Medical is organised into service areas that each focus on specific medical communications and health economics services or serve distinct sectors of the healthcare industry. In this role, you’ll work in our Value and Access or Evidence Development service areas. If you have an interest in joining a specific team, you will be encouraged to specify this in your application form. On joining the company, you will be assigned a “home” team based on factors such as your interests and skills and our current business need. However, where possible, Analysts work with at least one additional team to develop a broad understanding of the company’s services and clients.

Value and Access Teams:

  • Market Access. The Market Access team helps ensure medicines are reimbursed and quickly reach patients. We assist clients in creating communication strategies that highlight the clinical and economic value of innovative therapies. Our multidisciplinary work starts with evidence generation, including literature reviews, advisory boards, and economic modelling, which informs global materials used for consistent product communication across regional markets. This directly improves patient access to medicine worldwide. We also produce local reports and educational materials for payers about new therapies. Market Access roles are ideal for strategic thinkers passionate about expanding patient access and skilled in problem-solving and writing
  • HTA. As a member of the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) team, you will contribute to projects demonstrating the clinical and economic value of innovative therapies. Your work supports therapy reimbursement in countries where HTA is essential for patient access. Collaborating with clients from the outset, you'll develop HTA strategies and produce evidence-based narratives that show cost-effectiveness. The Costello Medical HTA team has submitted over 100 projects to agencies like NICE, EUnetHTA, and Singapore’s ACE. While no prior economics experience is needed, strong numerical, critical appraisal, and strategic skills are important for this role
  • Health Economics. Health economics projects create models to assess if interventions are cost-effective and affordable. As an Analyst, you support Health Economists by drafting protocols and reports, verifying model inputs, and offering clinical or scientific insights on model assumptions

Evidence Development Teams:

  • Literature Reviews. Literature Reviews projects involve gathering clinical, economic, and real-world evidence to demonstrate the value of pharmaceuticals or medical devices. Our team conducts systematic literature reviews for meta-analyses and pragmatic evidence reviews for strategic client decisions. You will learn evidence review methods, ensure compliance with industry guidelines, and help create clear reports and presentations. Many reviews are published at conferences or in journals. This role requires attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, and a passion for evidence-based medicine
  • Real-World Evidence. Real-world evidence (RWE) is increasingly vital for demonstrating the clinical and economic value of medical products. Our RWE team designs, conducts, and reports on real-world studies (prospective, retrospective, or cross-sectional) using protocols and statistical plans developed with Statisticians, clients, and experts. They gather and analyse data from sources like patient registries, claims databases, and prospective studies to answer questions about disease burden, effectiveness, and economics. As a growing service are, joining our RWE team offers the opportunity to help shape Costello Medical’s future services by delivering impactful, high-quality studies across various disease areas. This role suits those interested in epidemiology or biostatistics, though prior experience is not required
  • Statistics. Our Statistics team provides statistical and analytical expertise across Costello Medical, developing analysis plans and conducting data analyses in R, STAN, BUGS, and Excel. They communicate methodologies and results to drug/device manufacturers, clinicians, and reimbursement bodies such as NICE. Analyses span patient-level clinical trial data, real-world observational data, and published aggregate data, employing techniques from basic statistics to regression, survival analysis, and Bayesian network meta-analysis. You’ll work in cross-disciplinary project teams, receive training in technical methods, project management, and client communication, and routinely participate in client calls and external meetings. Some travel may be required for client engagements and congresses. Projects typically feed into publications, value materials, health economic models, or HTA submissions, offering exposure to a broad range of therapeutic areas.

You may also have chances to collaborate with teams outside Value and Access and Evidence Development, like those in Health Policy, Rare Diseases or MedTech. If you are interested in these areas, please note your preferred teams on your application form.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting detailed analysis of clinical trial data and creating materials for different audiences in various formats
  • Close collaboration with clients, including participating in teleconferences and face-to-face meetings with external stakeholders
  • Supporting project management and client communication, alongside experienced colleagues
  • Working on several projects in different disease areas at any one time
  • Engaging with different teams within the company to develop a broad understanding of service offerings and clients

Hybrid Working Policy: We believe that having face-to-face time in the office holds many benefits and is central to ensuring that the community we have created, where people have a workplace they belong to and feel part of, is never lost. At the same time, we recognise that homeworking can improve work life balance, reduce commuting times and costs, and provide the opportunity to juggle personal commitments.

Therefore, we offer flexible working arrangements that allow our colleagues who have passed probation to work from home for up to half of the time, measured across a 2-week rolling period. During your probationary period (normally the first 6 months of the role), you will be able to work from home for 1 day per week.
