Job description
The Opportunity Are you a highly organized communicator with the ability to guide families through one of the most important milestones in a child's life? Can you act as a brand ambassador for a school that is dedicated to raising aspirations in the heart of the Black Country? We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Admissions Assistant to join a vibrant administrative team in Wolverhampton . Known for its proud industrial heritage, legendary footballing spirit, and its status as a thriving university city, Wolverhampton is a community that values hard work and ambition. We are looking for an individual who can manage the technicalities of the admissions process with precision while offering a warm, welcoming hand to prospective students and their parents. Core Responsibilities Admissions Journey Management: Coordinating the end-to-end application process for New Starters (Year 7), In-Year Transfers, and Sixth Form applicants. Database Accuracy: Maintaining and updating student records on School Management Systems such as Arbor, SIMS, or Bromcom , ensuring all data is compliant with the School Admissions Code and GDPR. Parental Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact for admissions enquiries, providing clear and empathetic guidance on catchment areas, oversubscription criteria, and the appeals process. Transition Coordination: Working closely with local primary schools to facilitate "Transition Days," ensuring that student files and safeguarding information are transferred securely and efficiently. Marketing & Events: Assisting in the organization and promotion of Open Evenings and Tours, helping to showcase the school's facilities and values to the local community. Reporting & Analysis: Producing regular reports for the Senior Leadership Team on application trends, predicted numbers, and student demographics to assist in school-wide planning. Why This School? Wolverhampton’s Ambition: Work in a city that is seeing significant investment and regeneration, within a school that is committed to being a hub of excellence for local families. A Collaborative Support Network: Join a team that understands that the "front office" is the engine room of the school, where your organizational skills are truly valued and supported. Digital Innovation: Benefit from a school that uses modern, cloud-based systems to streamline administrative tasks, allowing you to focus on providing a high-quality service to families. Professional Growth: Access to specialist training in Admissions Law , Advanced Data Management , and pathways toward Admissions Manager or Registrar roles. Candidate Profile Experience: Previous experience in an administrative role is essential, ideally within an educational or public-sector setting. Familiarity with local authority admissions processes is a major advantage. Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex policies to parents with clarity and kindness. Data Integrity: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage large datasets and maintain strict confidentiality. Proactive Mindset: A self-starter who can manage competing deadlines—particularly during the peak "National Offer Day" and transition periods. Character: A resilient, professional, and welcoming individual who believes in the power of a smooth start to a student's educational journey.
