Drama holds a prominent place within the school community, with productions, festivals and performance showcases forming a vibrant part of the school calendar. The Role You will teach Drama across Key Stages 3 to 5, delivering a curriculum that balances performance technique, theatrical theory and analytical coursework. There is also scope to direct whole-school productions and contribute to the boarding programme’s cultural life. The Department The Performing Arts department is well-resourced and highly collaborative. Facilities include a purpose-built theatre, rehearsal studios, professional lighting and sound equipment, and technical support for productions. Staff work closely together to deliver high-quality performances and cross-curricular creative projects. The department maintains strong links with local theatre companies and regularly organises theatre visits and workshops to broaden students’ cultural experiences. The School Set within expansive North Yorkshire grounds, the school combines heritage buildings with modern academic and arts facilities. Class sizes are small, and pupils are enthusiastic, respectful and keen to participate in the full life of the school. The boarding element contributes to a rich extracurricular programme, with evening rehearsals, house performances and community events forming part of school life. Staff benefit from a supportive leadership team and access to excellent on-site amenities. About You • Qualified teacher with expertise in Drama or Performing Arts • Confident teaching GCSE and A-Level • Strong organisational skills and experience directing productions • Willing to contribute to the co-curricular and boarding community What’s On Offer • Competitive independent school salary and pension scheme • Exceptional performing arts facilities • Small class sizes and engaged students • Opportunities for professional development and creative leadership This is an outstanding opportunity for a Drama Teacher seeking to work in a North Yorkshire independent school where creativity, scholarship and community are equally valued.
