Job description
We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative and dedicated Design & Technology Teacher to join a successful and forward-thinking secondary school in Swindon. This full-time, permanent position begins January 2026 (or sooner for the right candidate) and offers a fantastic opportunity to teach within an ambitious DT Department known for creativity, technical excellence and strong student engagement. About the DT Department The DT Department is a vibrant, well-equipped and forward-looking team that offers: • Fully fitted workshops for resistant materials, engineering and product design • CAD/CAM technology including 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC equipment • Industry-standard software and digital design tools • Excellent technician support • A curriculum that encourages innovation, sustainability and real-world applications • Opportunities for student participation in competitions, STEM clubs and design challenges The department values creativity, precision and high-quality project outcomes, and staff collaborate closely to support each other and continually refine practice. About the Role • Teaching DT across KS3–KS4 (KS5 opportunities available depending on specialism) • Delivering engaging, practical and theory-based lessons • Supporting students with coursework, design portfolios and practical assemblies • Contributing to extra-curricular and enrichment activities • Engaging in regular CPD and collaborative departmental planning • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, progress and presentation • Playing a role in the wider school community through events and cross-curricular work Experience and Qualifications • Degree in DT, Product Design, Engineering or related subject • PGCE with QTS • Strong practical and technical workshop skills • Excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to inspiring young designers • Confident in delivering safe and effective practical lessons Salary Paid to scale – MPS/UPS.
