Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Norwich is seeking a calm, organised and people-focused Attendance & Pastoral Administrator to join its supportive pastoral and admin team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with families and pupils, values strong routines and understands the importance of accurate systems in supporting safeguarding, wellbeing and achievement. Attendance and pastoral systems are well established, and this role is central to ensuring information is accurate, follow-up is timely and pupils are supported to attend and thrive. About the Role As Attendance & Pastoral Administrator , you will support daily attendance processes alongside wider pastoral administration. Working closely with heads of year, safeguarding staff and senior leaders, you will ensure key systems run smoothly and that communication is clear and professional. Key responsibilities will include: Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality, ensuring registers are accurate and up to date Completing first-day response processes and logging outcomes clearly Maintaining accurate attendance and pastoral records with strong attention to detail Supporting pastoral teams with admin tasks linked to pupil support and wellbeing Preparing reports and information for attendance/pastoral meetings Liaising professionally with families regarding absence, punctuality and routines Supporting safeguarding procedures through accurate attendance information and prompt escalation of concerns Supporting general admin tasks within the pastoral office as required This role suits someone who can manage routine and deadlines reliably, while communicating with warmth and professionalism. The Pastoral Team You will work closely with a supportive pastoral structure where attendance and wellbeing are treated as whole-school priorities. You’ll be supported with clear systems and training where needed to build confidence quickly. Key Information Location: Norwich Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience What the School is Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: Experience in administration, attendance/pastoral support, school office work or a similar role Strong organisation and excellent attention to detail Confident communication skills and the ability to work with families sensitively Confidence using IT systems (email, spreadsheets, databases/MIS platforms) Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding in an education setting A calm, consistent and solution-focused approach School-based experience and familiarity with MIS systems (e.g., SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom) is desirable but not essential for a strong candidate.
