Job descriptionLOCATION: South of UK - Applicants should ideally be based within or close to the Taunton / Bridgwater / Yeovil region Company vehicle and fuel costs are provided. 6 month rolling contract Role Overview As a Field Service Engineer, you will provide onsite technical support across a range of customer environments throughout the South of the UK. The role involves a combination of hardware break-fix, deskside support, hands-and-feet services, and advanced printer/MFP repair. You will be expected to work independently, manage your own schedule effectively, and deliver consistently high service standards. Key Responsibilities Hardware Break-Fix & Maintenance Diagnose and repair faults on laptops (primarily Lenovo), desktops and AIO devices, and printers/MFPs (including intrusive/advanced repairs) Carry out component-level replacements (RAM, SSD, system boards, PSUs, etc.) Perform preventative maintenance on IT equipment Printer & MFP Repair Carry out intrusive and diagnostic-level repairs on printers and MFP devices Diagnose faults at component/board level (e.g. fusers, rollers, power units, controllers) Perform strip-down, repair, and rebuild of devices where required This is a mandatory requirement. Applicants without proven experience in intrusive MFP/printer repair will not be considered. Deskside Support Provide onsite end-user support for Windows environments, Microsoft 365 applications, and peripherals Support onboarding and offboarding (device builds, swaps, collections) Troubleshoot user-reported incidents through to resolution Hands & Feet Support (Networking & Infrastructure) Provide basic networking support including patching and cabling and rack/stack activities Assist remote teams with troubleshooting and installations Support IT and comms room organisation Customer Experience Deliver a consistently high level of customer service Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users Represent the company professionally at all times Travel This is a highly mobile role requiring extensive travel between customer sites. The role will also require site backfill cover at customer locations when needed, including short-term and planned cover assignments. Flexibility for early starts and late finishes will be required to meet business and customer needs. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years field service experience Strong experience in IT hardware break-fix, deskside support, and intrusive printer/MFP repair (essential) Proven ability to diagnose and repair hardware faults independently Solid understanding of Windows OS and Microsoft 365 Essential Requirements Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 3 penalty points) Willingness to undertake significant travel and driving Flexibility to work early starts and late finishes where required Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong time management and organisational skills Excellent communication and customer-facing skills Must either hold current SC clearance or be eligible and willing to obtain SC clearance Desirable Skills Lenovo or other OEM certifications Experience with IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) services Experience supporting multi-site contracts ABOUT US: A&O IT Group is an award-winning, fast-growth, global IT services and cyber security consultancy operating in over 130 countries.
