Job description
A well-regarded 11–18 secondary school in Worksop is seeking a committed and thoughtful History & Humanities Teacher to join its established Humanities faculty. This role offers the chance to teach History within a school that values strong subject knowledge, clear explanations and meaningful discussion. The school has a solid academic reputation locally and is particularly proud of its Humanities provision, which plays an important role in developing students’ critical thinking, literacy and wider understanding of the world. The Humanities Faculty History sits within a collaborative Humanities faculty alongside Geography and Religious Studies. Departments work closely together, sharing approaches to literacy, assessment and curriculum sequencing to ensure consistency and coherence across year groups. The History curriculum is carefully planned to build knowledge over time, with an emphasis on: Secure understanding of key periods and themes Source analysis and interpretation Developing confident extended writing Encouraging debate and independent thought GCSE uptake is strong, and students respond well to the structured, knowledge-rich approach used across the department. Your Role You will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the opportunity to contribute to other Humanities subjects depending on experience and interest. Lessons are purposeful and discussion-led, balancing historical knowledge with skills development. You’ll be supported through shared schemes of work, common assessments and collaborative planning, allowing you to focus on high-quality teaching rather than excessive preparation.
