Full-time, Permanent - April 2025 Start Are you a passionate and engaging Teacher of Sociology with a desire to inspire young men to explore the complexities of human societies and social change? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual, including ECTs , to join our thriving Sociology department in a boys' school in Kensington & Chelsea. About the School: Our school is a high-achieving learning environment where boys are encouraged to develop their intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, and understanding of the social world. We foster a strong sense of community and provide a supportive environment where students can develop their leadership potential and explore their interests in sociology. About the Sociology Department: The Sociology department is a collaborative and passionate team with a shared commitment to fostering students' interest in this fascinating subject. We offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from family and education to crime and deviance. About the Role: Teach Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5, with the possibility of contributing to PSHE lessons. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities. Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including discussions, debates, case studies, and documentaries, to bring Sociology to life for students. Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys. Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Sociology curriculum remains relevant and challenging. Foster a love of Sociology in students, encouraging them to explore social issues and develop their understanding of the world around them. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Sociology education. Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS or equivalent (or is eligible to apply). Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Sociology. Demonstrates a passion for teaching Sociology and a commitment to student success. Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Sociology and relevant examination specifications. Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
