Job description

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated, compassionate and reliable Paediatric Complex Care Support Worker to join the care team for a beautiful 8‑year‑old girl living at home in Aston, Birmingham with her loving family. As the youngest of five children, she is surrounded by warmth, attention and continuous family involvement in her care.

About me:

At the age of two, I experienced a life‑changing accident resulting in a severe spinal cord injury. I am now completely paralysed and require full clinical support. My diagnoses include:

  • Diffuse axonal injury
  • Unstable C0/C1 cervical spine
  • Post‑traumatic quadriplegia
  • 24/7 invasive ventilation

My daily care also includes intermittent catheterisation, PEG feeds and medication, bowel care, cough assist and nebulisers. While experience in these areas is desirable, full training will be provided.

Despite my complex needs, I am an expressive, engaging and affectionate little girl, non‑verbal but demonstrates good understanding and enjoys interacting through my favourite activities. I love my tablet—especially YouTube shows like Ben and Holly and Peppa Pig—story time, nursery rhymes and calm, gentle company. I attend school five days a week, where I thrive on routine, social interaction and structured support.

Role Overview

You will be part of a highly skilled and supportive care team providing:

  • One‑to‑one clinical care within the family home
  • Support during school hours
  • Overnight respite care to ensure the family receives essential rest
  • A warm, patient and attentive presence that helps her feel safe, calm and engaged

This is a deeply rewarding role where you will make a meaningful difference to the life of a child and her family.

About You

  • Kind, patient and committed to delivering exceptional care
  • Confident working in a family home environment
  • Willing to learn advanced clinical skills (full training provided)
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated care team
  • Reliable, professional and child‑centred in your approach

What We Offer

  • Full specialist training and ongoing clinical support
  • Competitive pay
  • Supportive team environment
  • Opportunities to develop advanced paediatric care skills
  • The chance to build a meaningful, long‑term connection with a wonderful family
