Job description
A well-regarded 11–18 secondary school in Stockport is seeking a thoughtful and committed Teacher of Religious Studies & Ethics to join its established Humanities faculty. The school serves a broad and diverse local community and has built a strong reputation for academic consistency, structured pastoral systems and clear behaviour expectations. Religious Studies is a valued subject within the curriculum, with strong GCSE participation and a clear emphasis on philosophical reasoning, ethical discussion and cultural understanding. The Role This is a full-time teaching post across KS3 and KS4, with potential involvement at KS5 depending on experience. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that encourage reflection, structured debate and critical analysis. You will: • Teach Religious Studies and Ethics across KS3 and GCSE • Deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum grounded in philosophy and theology • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE assessment • Promote respectful discussion and balanced viewpoints • Contribute to wider Humanities collaboration The school has centralised schemes of work in place, providing clear structure while allowing teachers flexibility in delivery style. The Humanities Faculty Religious Studies sits within a cohesive Humanities faculty alongside History and Geography. The team works collaboratively on curriculum planning and moderation, ensuring consistency and academic challenge.
