Job description
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner ready to take the next step in their career, combining high-quality classroom teaching with opportunities to lead and influence across the school. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping pupil progress, developing teaching practice, and supporting school improvement initiatives. Start Date: January 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Location: Gravesend, Kent Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching to a Year 1 class in line with the National Curriculum Take on middle leadership responsibilities , contributing to curriculum development or leading a key subject area Support and mentor colleagues to share best practice and raise standards across Key Stage 1 Use effective assessment to monitor and enhance pupil progress and attainment Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment where all pupils thrive Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent support for learning and wellbeing Play an active role in the wider life of the school, including staff meetings, events, and professional development About the School This welcoming Gravesend primary school is known for its: Strong leadership and collaborative ethos , promoting professional growth and innovation Commitment to academic excellence and holistic education Friendly, inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and creativity Well-resourced classrooms and a forward-thinking curriculum that supports both pupils and staff Continuous professional development opportunities, including tailored leadership training Candidate Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1 , ideally Year 1 Demonstrable leadership skills or experience leading a subject or initiative Excellent knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and effective teaching strategies Strong communication, organisational, and mentoring abilities A reflective, proactive approach to professional development Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Application If you are an inspirational Year 1 Teacher ready to take on middle leadership responsibilities and make a lasting impact in a thriving Gravesend school, we would love to hear from you.
