Job description
About the School: This established and well-respected West London secondary school fosters a supportive and inclusive learning environment for girls aged 11-16. The school values creativity, innovation, and practical skills development, with a strong focus on preparing students for future success in a variety of fields. About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Design Technology teacher to join our dynamic department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in igniting a passion for design and problem-solving in students, equipping them with valuable technical skills and fostering creative thinking. Key Responsibilities: Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and stimulating Design Technology lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11) in line with the National Curriculum. Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their design and practical skills effectively (planning, construction, using a variety of materials and tools). Encourage creativity and problem-solving skills, fostering a culture of experimentation and innovation in the design process. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Design Technology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in design education (e.g., integrating technology, sustainability principles). Create and maintain a safe and well-organized learning environment in the workshop. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare students for relevant examinations and assessments. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to share best practices and contribute to the school's overall success. The Ideal Candidate: A qualified Design Technology teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students and developing their design and practical skills. Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of design and problem-solving in students of all abilities. Strong pedagogical skills and the ability to deliver innovative and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles. A commitment to high standards and the ability to create a positive, stimulating, and safe learning environment in the workshop. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. A willingness to be part of a dynamic department and contribute to its ongoing development. What We Offer: The opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking school with a strong commitment to girls' education. A chance to make a real difference in the lives of students and inspire a passion for Design and Technology . Competitive salary and benefits package (details to be discussed at interview).
