Job description
A large and well-organised 11–18 secondary academy in Bristol is seeking an experienced and meticulous Exams & Data Officer to join its operations team. The academy serves a diverse student population and has built a strong reputation for improving GCSE and A-Level outcomes through clear systems, strong leadership and effective data use. Examinations and student performance data are central to the academy’s strategic planning. This role is critical in ensuring that assessment processes are compliant, accurate and efficiently delivered across the academic year. The Role Reporting to the School Business Manager and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will manage the full examination cycle and oversee key aspects of pupil data administration. Your responsibilities will include: • Coordinating all internal and external examinations in line with JCQ regulations • Managing exam entries, timetables and seating plans • Liaising with awarding bodies and ensuring compliance procedures are followed • Training and supervising invigilators • Maintaining accurate pupil performance data within the school’s MIS system • Producing performance reports for senior leaders and governors • Supporting data analysis for progress tracking and intervention planning The role requires precision, confidentiality and the ability to work calmly under pressure during peak examination periods. The School Located in Bristol, the academy has invested heavily in strengthening its assessment and data systems. The operations team works collaboratively with curriculum and pastoral leaders to ensure accurate tracking of student progress. Facilities include a dedicated examinations office, secure storage for confidential materials and a structured annual assessment calendar. The academy operates clear and compliant procedures, with safeguarding and data protection as top priorities. The working culture is professional and structured, with clear reporting lines and strong leadership support. Who We’re Looking For The successful candidate will: • Have previous experience managing school examinations or data systems • Be familiar with JCQ regulations and examination compliance • Demonstrate strong organisational and IT skills • Be confident using MIS systems and Microsoft Excel • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail Experience within a secondary school setting would be highly advantageous.
