Job description
An outstanding independent day school in Oxfordshire is seeking an experienced and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join their innovative Technology Department from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent post, ideal for a teacher passionate about combining technical expertise with creative problem-solving. About the Role The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across KS3–KS5 , specialising in Product Design, Engineering, or Graphic Design , depending on their background. Lessons encourage students to develop design thinking, technical precision, and sustainability awareness. They will guide students through the process of designing, modelling, and manufacturing prototypes, using a range of materials and CAD/CAM technologies. The postholder will also contribute to departmental enrichment , including robotics, design competitions, and STEM projects. About the School This high-achieving independent school is known for its progressive curriculum, strong results, and commitment to innovation. The DT Department occupies a modern workshop with laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, and digital design studios, supported by skilled technicians. Teachers enjoy significant professional freedom, smaller class sizes, and the opportunity to explore creative interdisciplinary projects linking DT, Computing, and Art. The school actively supports professional development and encourages teachers to lead initiatives that enhance student experience. Experience and Qualifications QTS/PGCE and degree in Design & Technology or Engineering. Strong practical and digital design skills. Commitment to sustainable design education. Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level DT (preferred).
