The school has made significant strides in raising standards and improving behaviour over recent years, with attendance identified as a key strategic priority. You will play a central role in continuing that positive trajectory. The Role As Attendance & Education Welfare Officer, you will take responsibility for monitoring, analysing and improving student attendance across the school. The School Environment This Birmingham secondary school educates over 1,000 students and benefits from a clear pastoral structure with dedicated Heads of Year and safeguarding teams. Leadership is visible and supportive, and there is a strong commitment to improving life chances for young people. The school operates robust behaviour and attendance systems, and the administrative infrastructure is well established. You will join a professional and collaborative support team where your contribution will be both valued and visible. About You • Experience in attendance, welfare, safeguarding or pastoral roles (school experience preferred) • Strong understanding of attendance legislation and local authority procedures • Confident communicator able to build positive relationships with families • Highly organised, with strong data-handling skills • Resilient and solution-focused approach Experience conducting home visits and working with external agencies would be advantageous. What’s on Offer • Competitive salary within a structured support staff scale • Ongoing professional development opportunities • Clear line management and supportive leadership • Opportunity to make a tangible difference to student outcomes • Stable and well-resourced school environment This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a committed Attendance & Education Welfare professional who believes that consistent school attendance is the foundation for academic success and long-term opportunity.
