Job description
An Outstanding 11–18 school in Gloucester is looking to appoint a Design & Technology ECT for a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026 . This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Technology Department that values innovation and practical learning. About the Role The successful ECT will teach DT across KS3–KS5 , specialising in Product Design, Engineering, or Resistant Materials. They will plan engaging lessons that combine creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. The department encourages experimentation and student-led design, supporting projects that promote sustainability, functionality, and innovation. The ECT will also have the opportunity to lead or assist with extracurricular activities such as robotics clubs, design showcases, and national competitions . About the School The school is recognised for its academic excellence, inclusive ethos, and commitment to staff development . The DT Department boasts exceptional facilities, including CAD/CAM equipment, 3D printers, and fully equipped workshops , supported by skilled technicians. Staff benefit from ongoing CPD, mentoring from experienced teachers, and structured career progression pathways. The leadership team promotes professional autonomy and teamwork, while prioritising wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance. Experience and Qualifications QTS/PGCE and degree in DT, Engineering, or Product Design Strong technical, digital, and creative design skills Eagerness to learn and experiment with new technologies Passion for motivating and inspiring students through practical learning How to Apply Applications are encouraged from creative and ambitious DT ECTs ready to begin their career in an Outstanding, supportive environment that celebrates innovation and craftsmanship.
