Job description
We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and forward-thinking DT Teacher to join an outstanding Independent School in Reading. This full-time, permanent position begins January 2026 and offers the opportunity to teach DT in an innovative, well-resourced environment. About the School The school blends academic rigour with a culture of creativity and innovation. DT is a flagship subject, supported at the highest level by leadership. Students achieve consistently strong outcomes and regularly take part in engineering challenges, design competitions and national STEM initiatives. Staff benefit from small class sizes, excellent CPD and a warm, collaborative working atmosphere. About the DT Department • Advanced workshops with modern tools and machinery • Dedicated design studios with CAD/CAM facilities • 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC equipment • Excellent technician support for practical teaching • A strong KS4/KS5 programme with outstanding results • Opportunities for product design, engineering and robotics projects About the Role • Teaching DT across KS3–KS5, including specialist pathways • Delivering high-quality practical and theory lessons • Supporting coursework, portfolios and design-based assessments • Leading enrichment such as design clubs, competitions and maker spaces • Helping develop curriculum resources and innovative teaching approaches • Maintaining high standards of workshop safety and organisation Experience and Qualifications • Degree in DT, Product Design or Engineering • PGCE with QTS • Strong technical and creative skills • Confidence using CAD/CAM systems Salary Competitive Independent School scale.
