Job description
We are currently seeking an innovative, motivated and committed Teacher of Design & Technology to join an Outstanding secondary school in Slough. This is a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026 (or earlier for an exceptional candidate). About the DT Department The Design & Technology Department is one of the school’s strengths, with a history of outstanding GCSE results and a vibrant curriculum that embraces modern design, engineering principles and problem-solving. Facilities include: • Fully equipped workshops • CAD/CAM technology • Laser cutters, 3D printers and CNC machines • Specialist technician support • Access to digital design packages and industry-standard software The department fosters an atmosphere of creativity, innovation and collaboration, encouraging students to tackle real-world design challenges and develop technical proficiency. About the Role As a Teacher of DT, your responsibilities will include: • Teaching Design & Technology across KS3–KS4 (with potential KS5 depending on specialism) • Delivering engaging, practical and theory-based lessons • Supporting students with coursework, design portfolios and project-based assessments • Contributing to curriculum development and department resources • Maintaining high classroom standards and promoting a safe workshop environment • Collaborating with colleagues on whole-school initiatives and enrichment activities • Playing an active role in supporting STEM clubs, engineering competitions or design projects This is an excellent opportunity for a DT specialist passionate about inspiring creativity and technical confidence in young people. Experience and Qualifications • Degree in DT, Product Design, Engineering or related subject • PGCE with QTS • Strong practical skills and confidence using workshop machinery • Ability to teach DT at KS3/KS4 (KS5 desirable) • Excellent organisational and communication skills • Commitment to high standards, student progress and continuous improvement Salary Paid to scale (MPS/UPS), with additional allowances available for suitable candidates.
