Job description
Design & Technology Teacher (ECT) – Outstanding Boys’ Secondary School, Surrey School Information This Outstanding Ofsted-rated boys’ secondary school in Surrey is known for its academic excellence, strong behaviour culture, and commitment to practical, skills-based learning. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum and places significant emphasis on preparing students for further education and future careers. The Design & Technology Department is modern, well-resourced, and highly respected within the school. Facilities include specialist workshops and dedicated spaces for product design, resistant materials, and CAD/CAM technologies. The department plays a key role in developing students’ creativity, problem-solving abilities, and technical confidence. Role Information The school is seeking a Design & Technology ECT to join the department as soon as possible. This role is ideal for an Early Career Teacher looking to develop their practice in a supportive and structured environment. You will teach D&T across KS3 and KS4, delivering practical and theory-based lessons that encourage innovation and independent thinking. You will support students through design projects, coursework, and practical assessments, working closely with experienced technicians and colleagues. As part of the school’s ECT programme, you will benefit from a reduced teaching timetable, structured CPD, and ongoing mentoring tailored to your development needs. Requirements • QTS (or pending QTS) • A degree in Design & Technology or a related discipline • Confidence delivering practical lessons safely and effectively • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail • Enthusiasm for hands-on learning and design innovation Application If you are interested, please send your CV as soon as possible.
