SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School | Wythenshawe

Location: Wythenshawe
Start Date: September
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm)

Teaching Personnel is pleased to be partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wythenshawe to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them reach their full potential in a nurturing school environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities
  • Supporting the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Encouraging pupil participation, independence, and confidence
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, parents, and external professionals
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress and achievements
  • Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and social development

✅ About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Have previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Be adaptable and confident working with a range of learning needs
  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Hold Level 2 Safeguarding Training or be willing to complete it through Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
