At Cabrini Health we champion community, compassion and career fulfilment. Our teams are united by the shared purpose of making a meaningful contribution to exceptional, patient-centred care in well- resourced, world class facilities that inspire you to perform at your best and continuously grow professionally.

Palliative Care Inpatient Unit

Our specialist palliative care inpatient unit is committed to providing compassionate care for patients with complex symptoms and end-of-life needs. Here, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team that works tirelessly to ensure that no patient faces their journey alone.

What the role involves

In this role, you’ll lead a dynamic team, coaching and guiding staff to provide exceptional, evidence-based palliative care. Picture yourself collaborating with fellow ANUM's and Coordinators, fostering a strong, team-oriented atmosphere where every member feels valued and empowered.

You won’t be alone on this journey; our dedicated Palliative Care Nurse Educator will be there to provide ongoing, hands-on support, ensuring you have the tools and knowledge to thrive. Reporting to the Palliative Care Nurse Manager, you’ll have the backing you need to excel in your role.

This part-time role operates on a rotating roster, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead with Confidence: Coordinate shifts and plan patient activities, ensuring seamless operations.

  • Be a Clinical Expert: Share your knowledge with the clinical team, providing guidance and expertise.

  • Communicate Effectively: Escalate issues to senior staff as needed, ensuring follow-up actions are implemented.

  • Support and Coach: Assist and mentor your colleagues in problem-solving and delivering outstanding care.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Liaise with medical staff and other health professionals to create an integrated model of care.

  • Triage Community Calls: Manage clinical information and collaborate with the Homecare team for out-of-hours visits and admissions.

What we're looking for:

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Post-graduate qualifications and/or relevant experience in Palliative Care.

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • A passion for quality improvement and auditing, with a desire to drive positive change in patient outcomes.

What we offer:

  • Salary packaging: up to $15,900 tax-free each year, plus $2650 meal & entertainment card benefits

  • Convenience: Vibrant Malvern location, close to local shops, cafes and public transport for easy commuting

  • Travel Perks: Myki Commuter discounted fares

  • A commitment to health and wellbeing initiatives including discounted access to a wide range of gyms, pools, and fitness facilities through Fitness Passport

  • Access to a range of retail offers, discounted hospital services and savings on eligible private health fund services

  • Meaningful Work: Contribute to a fulfilling career in a mission-driven, values-focused healthcare organisation.
