Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Manchester is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Art & Design to join its supportive Creative Arts team. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about visual arts, creativity and helping students develop confidence, technical skill and individual artistic voice. About the Role As Teacher of Art & Design , you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the potential to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and timetable. You will deliver a well-sequenced curriculum that develops: Strong practical and creative skills across a range of media and techniques Confident drawing, observation and visual communication Understanding of artists, movements and critical/contextual studies Independent creativity through sustained project work and personal outcomes Exam confidence through modelling, purposeful practice and structured feedback You will support students to develop both technical skill and creative thinking, ensuring they can refine work through feedback and maintain high standards of presentation and effort. The Department The Art & Design department is supportive and collaborative, with a shared commitment to high standards and strong student outcomes. Teachers work together to plan engaging projects, share resources and maintain consistent approaches to assessment and feedback. Key Information Location: Manchester Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience) Experience and Qualifications The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification) Have strong subject knowledge in Art & Design Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons with high expectations Use assessment effectively to support progress and refine outcomes Maintain high standards of classroom culture, organisation and presentation Work collaboratively within a supportive Creative Arts team Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and ECTs .
