Location: Ealing, West London Role: Behaviour Mentor – Primary & Nursery Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) Start Date: ASAP / Next Term About the School This welcoming and inclusive Primary and Nursery School in Ealing is at the heart of a diverse and vibrant community. The school works closely with families, external agencies, and local services to ensure that every child receives the right support at the right time. Due to increasing pastoral and behavioural needs within EYFS and KS1, the school is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team. The Role As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with children in Nursery, Reception, and Key Stage 1 who require additional emotional and behavioural support. Many pupils may present with SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD, attachment difficulties, or communication challenges. Your role will be to help pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive coping strategies, and engage successfully in learning. You will act as a consistent, trusted adult, supporting children both in and out of the classroom. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural and emotional support Support pupils with emotional regulation, transitions, and routines Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies Work closely with class teachers, EYFS practitioners, and the SENCO Support children during unstructured times (playtime, lunch, transitions) Use play-based and therapeutic approaches to support behaviour Monitor progress and contribute to review meetings Build strong relationships with parents and carers Support safeguarding and child protection procedures Maintain accurate records and observations The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be patient, calm, and emotionally resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young children. Experience working within a Primary, Nursery, or EYFS setting is highly desirable. You should have: Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour or SEND A strong understanding of early childhood development Knowledge of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or attachment theory Excellent communication and teamwork skills The ability to remain calm under pressure A positive, proactive approach to behaviour management Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, psychology, youth work, or mental health are advantageous but not essential.
