Job description
The Opportunity Are you the ultimate multi-tasker with a friendly face and a calm head? Can you be the professional "front of house" for a busy educational community in the heart of the Steel City? We are seeking an organised and personable School Receptionist to join a vibrant administrative team in Sheffield . As the first point of contact for students, parents, and visitors, you will play a vital role in the daily life of the school. Located in a city famous for its seven hills and friendly character, this school needs someone who can balance high-level administrative duties with a warm, welcoming approach. Core Responsibilities Front of House Excellence: Serving as the primary point of contact for all visitors, ensuring a professional welcome while maintaining rigorous safeguarding and sign-in procedures. Communication Hub: Managing a busy switchboard, directing calls efficiently, and handling high volumes of emails with accuracy and discretion. Student Support: Assisting students with daily enquiries—from forgotten PE kits to lost property—and providing a calm presence for those feeling unwell or anxious. Administrative Operations: Supporting the wider office with tasks such as data entry (using systems like SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom ), filing, and the distribution of school correspondence. Safeguarding Vigilance: Monitoring the main entrance and ensuring that all visitors are appropriately vetted and badged in line with "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (KCSIE) guidelines. Attendance Coordination: Assisting the attendance officer by recording late arrivals and managing the "signing out" process for students with appointments. Why This School? Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn school-specific databases quickly. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain polite and professional under pressure. Character: A resilient, proactive, and empathetic individual who can handle sensitive information with confidentiality and "think on their feet."
