Job description
A successful and financially well-managed secondary school in Liverpool is seeking a meticulous and dependable Finance Officer to join its business support team starting as soon as possible. The school has a strong reputation for professionalism, transparency and staff wellbeing. Finance staff are trusted colleagues, working closely with senior leaders to ensure resources are managed responsibly and in line with educational priorities. The Role You will support the School Business Manager and senior leadership team with both day-to-day financial processes and longer-term planning. Responsibilities include: Processing purchase orders, invoices and reconciliations Monitoring departmental budgets and expenditure Supporting monthly and annual financial reporting Maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance Liaising with suppliers and managing procurement processes Supporting value-for-money reviews Working Culture The school operates with realistic deadlines, clear procedures and well-established systems. Accuracy and consistency are prioritised over speed. What the School Is Looking For Experience in a finance or accounts role (education or public sector desirable) Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail Confidence with finance systems and spreadsheets A methodical, organised approach This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance Officer seeking a stable, professional role within education.
